New NDIS Planning Changes – What It Means for You

At Home Carer’s Alliance, we understand that changes to the NDIS can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming. With new NDIS planning changes expected to gradually roll out from 2027, we want to help participants and families better understand what these updates may mean moving forward.

The new approach, known as “framework planning”, is intended to create a more structured and consistent planning process across the NDIS.

As part of this process, participants may eventually take part in a support needs assessment. This will involve a guided conversation with a trained assessor, allowing participants to discuss their day-to-day needs, personal goals, and the supports that matter most to them.

The proposed changes are intended to create a more consistent planning process that better reflects each participant’s individual support needs and goals.

What Could This Mean for Participants?

As the new framework is introduced over time, participants may notice:

  • A more structured and consistent planning process
  • More detailed conversations around everyday support needs and goals
  • Ongoing guidance and support throughout planning and review conversations

Most importantly, there is nothing you need to do right now. Your current NDIS plan will remain in place unless you are otherwise advised.

At Home Carer’s Alliance, we are here to support you through every stage of your NDIS journey. Whether you have questions about upcoming changes or simply want reassurance that your supports continue to meet your needs, our team is always here to help.
