Understanding the NDIS
Learn what the NDIS is, who can get it, and how to apply.
What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides financial support to the approximately 4.3 million Australians living with disability.
With the help of providers across Australia (such as Home Carer’s Alliance) the NDIS aims to support a better life for hundreds of thousands of Australians with disability and their families and carers.
Am I eligible for the NDIS?
You may be eligible for the NDIS if you have a permanent disability, including intellectual, sensory and/or physical disability or resulting from a mental health issue, that significantly affects your ability to take part in everyday activities. You must also meet the NDIS age, residency and disability requirements.
How do I apply for the NDIS?
Those who meet the NDIS eligibility requirements can apply for the scheme via the NDIS website, following the steps outlined below.
