Home Carer’s Alliance 2025 Year Wrap-Up

As 2025 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year we’ve had at Home Carer’s Alliance and share some of our wins, challenges, and plans for the year ahead.

It’s been a year of growth, learning, and resilience, and I’m proud of the commitment and dedication shown by our team, participants, and their families.

Celebrating our wins

This year, we’ve seen some remarkable achievements:

  • LeagueAbility partnership
Being recognised nationally and partnering with the Gold Coast Titans has been a highlight for our team. It’s not just about recognition; it’s about the impact we can make in the community.
  • Our people stepping up
Kristel has been an outstanding addition to our leadership team. Her transition from the front line into a key leadership role has been seamless and energising for the company.
  • Staff longevity
We’ve had team members with us since the beginning, and many who have reached their four-year milestones. This speaks volumes about our culture and commitment to our people.
  • Supporter loyalty
Our participants and their families have stood by us, even during challenging times. Their trust and belief in the work we do is invaluable.

Challenges & lessons learned

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing. We’ve faced challenges this year, which have made us more resilient.

  • Operational setbacks
We faced frustrating setbacks with staff departures and lost opportunities, including a financial hit that required difficult decisions. And while these decisions have been tough, they have strengthened our resilience and helped us streamline operations.
  • Trust & systems
We learned the hard way about access and control. This year, we implemented tighter IT systems, secured sensitive information, and refined processes to safeguard our company and participants. These steps will ensure the integrity and longevity of the services we provide.
  • Emotional challenges
Certain staff actions were hurtful and tested the heart of our organisation. I want to acknowledge that this year demanded mental and emotional resilience from leadership, and I’m grateful to the team who stepped up when needed.

Growing our services

Despite the challenges, we’ve made significant strides in improving the services we provide.

  • Expanded training
Our support staff have gained skills to manage complex needs, from Huntington’s disease to dementia, equipping them to provide personalised care across a range of disabilities. Training has been hands-on and driven by industry experts.
  • New systems & technology
We’ve implemented rostering, payroll, and customer databases to streamline operations and provide real-time insights for participants and families.
  • Accommodation growth
While expansion was slower than hoped, we successfully maintained and strengthened our existing properties and service offerings.

Looking ahead to 2026

Next year, we’ll also continue our culture of open communication, respect, and support. Mistakes happen, but we learn and grow together.

Our team is the heart of Home Carer’s Alliance, and I’m committed to making sure every staff member feels supported, valued, and empowered.

Our priorities are clear:

  • Grow our services
We aim to welcome more participants into our homes and community support programs, expanding into new areas where possible.
  • Invest in staff
Continued professional development will ensure our team can provide expert, personalised care for every participant.
  • Strengthen systems
The IT, rostering, and training systems we’ve invested in will continue to be refined, providing seamless access and transparency for participants, families, and staff.

Final words

2025 has been a year of highs and lows, but through it all, our mission remains unchanged. We will continue to provide safe, personalised, and empowering support for our participants and their families.

I am proud of what we’ve achieved, grateful for the trust of our participants and families, and inspired by the dedication of our staff.

Here’s to 2026 – a year of growth, connection, and continued care. Thank you for being part of the Home Carer’s Alliance community.
